From The New Payette School District Superintendent

Dear Payette Parents, Students and Friends,

As the new Superintendent of Payette School District, it is an honor to become a member of Pirate Nation. During these past few weeks, I have had many interactions with parents, faculty, and students. From these interactions, it is clear that Payette has dynamic staff members, dedicated parents and involved community members. Building relationships is of the utmost importance in any leadership position and building positive connections with our parents, teachers, and community is my top priority. Payette School District’s greatest initiative will be to continue to work together to provide individual learning opportunities to inspire and engage our students. I look forward to working with our students and continuing to provide excellent educational experiences.

I was raised on a farm near Meridian, Idaho. I received a bachelor’s degree from BYU – Hawaii, a master’s degree from Gonzaga University, and my Doctorate in Education from Boise State University. My wife, Ashley, is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and owns her own psychiatric and counseling practice in Eagle. We have three sons, Gavin, Pierce, and our toddler Liam, that keep us busy and laughing. The older two are in high school and middle school and love football, wrestling, reading and playing with their little brother. Liam loves stories read to him and chasing his older brothers. I am a sports-fanatic (GO BRONCOS); I also enjoy camping, hunting, and spending time with my family.

While I taught social studies and CTE courses at Middleton Academy, I completed my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at Boise State University. As a teacher at Middleton Academy, I created a student leadership program and enjoyed helping the at-risk students develop in their ability to set and accomplish goals. I had the privilege of being a teacher mentor and I also spent three summers in Middleton as the summer school principal.

After teaching in Middleton, I was hired in the Marsing School District as a district-wide instructional coach. Halfway through the school year, I was offered the elementary principal position at Marsing Elementary. As principal at Marsing Elementary School, I helped to develop parent education and outreach programs as well as a school-wide character education program. I also implemented a teacher mentoring program that helped to create a powerful learning environment. After three years in Marsing, I then returned to Middleton Academy as the new building administrator. As principal at Middleton Academy, I helped to create processes to increase student enrollment numbers. I collaborated with the high school general education administration to bring our programs together. This has allowed for a more seamless transition between the programs and building a stronger connection to the community for students and their families. Middleton Academy’s graduation rates have dramatically improved with these changes.

For the past three years I have also served as the CTE Director for Middleton School District. As the school district has grown, we have worked diligently to create new CTE Pathways and have expanded our program offerings to include Health Professions, Construction, and we are currently working with the state to create a new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) certification Pathway.

I believe in the importance of building strong relationships with students, families and staff members. It is particularly important for me to make sure that you and your child feel safe and respected in our Payette Schools. I also believe in open communication and I always welcome ideas and volunteers from parents and community members. I can be reached via email at glcroft@payetteschools.org or just stop by to introduce yourself any time as my door is always open to you. Together we will continue to provide outstanding educational opportunities and academic excellence for all of our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Glen Croft, Ed.D.
