Letter To The Editor By Mary Lundin

In response to the “invisible influence” and her protege:

I have no big issue regarding the County Code changes.  I’ve only lived in Washington County since 2006.  I am not a large land owner nor an inheritor of multi-generational land ownership.

I DO believe in private property rights, representative government and the rule of law.  I don’t expect to “get my way”, but I do expect elected officials to listen to, respect and respond to the people who elected them and the will of these people.

I have no doubt Commissioner Haines strives to be known as a fine young man.  In order to become a wise older man, Mr. Haines will have many experiences which may or may not elevate him to that status.  (depending on how he handles life’s challenges.) In the meantime I expect him to be a conscientious County Commissioner.  His job requires him to learn, listen, study and THINK FOR HIMSELF! His actions were presumptuous and impulsive in attempting to pull a fast one on We the people.  Haines is  “Newbee”.  A humble person learns the ropes, listens, studies, works and uses discernment until he “owns it”.  I hope Mr. Haines works as hard at being a good Commissioner as he did to get elected.
