Soon we’ll all be getting voter pamphlets in the mail. Be aware that there will be some that represent “Dirty Smear Campaigns.” On these flyers the candidate will name their opponent, point fingers at them and tell all kinds of lies about them. They will try to convince everyone that their opponent is immoral, dishonest, or incompetent, and that you should not vote for them.
But, would a truly moral person put out a “nasty” campaign flyer? These flyers actually show you the character of the candidate who puts them out. If all they can do is malign their opponent and attack them personally, you can see they have no real policies and no principles. These kind of attacks CLEARLY show us who the good candidates are. They aren’t the ones doing the “smearing.”
So, when you find yourself reading a flyer that smears the opponent, think about it. Usually, when someone is over the target (doing what is right, or standing for what is right) they are getting a lot of flak and they are the ones who should get your vote.
