Monday, November 13th the Weiser City Council approved the purchase of a new loader and V blade plow for the loader. The current loader is over twenty-seven years old and is in need of replacement . Ron McDaniel, Weiser City Street Supervisor speaking about the V plow shared, “If you have been in our subdivisions and cul-de-sacs it’s pretty difficult, you have to be pretty skilled in the graders to turn those graders around and keep the snow heading in the right direction. I think this V plow and any loader that it got put on would be a great tool to have. I think it would turn sharper and articulate better. It would cut down on time going back and forth”
The purchase of both pieces of equipment will come in under the original budget of $275,000. The question is if it will be here in time for the 2023-2024 winter season. Mike Campbell, Weisers Public Works Manager, shared that normally the equipment would be ordered and ready in sixty days from the order date, but with the state of backorders in general on equipment and parts it is unknown when the equipment would be in the cities’ possession. The hope is it would be available sometime between January or February.
