Letter To The Editor – Mark Curry

HB-292 This Bill, just passed, will provide about $100 million to Idaho schools. The schools would be required to use their share of this money for property tax relief, meaning paying off existing bonds and levies, saving for future projects, or bonding against their share of the state’s money. How much money Weiser school district will get is yet unknown. But, all in all, the sky is not falling. HB-292 also gives  fairly substantial property tax relief. My question is about the Weiser school district rainy day fund of over 3.5 million dollars. Why can’t this money be used for school repairs?
